Topolino’s Terrace Character Breakfast

Located on top of Disney’s Riviera Resort is one of the most incredible dining experience I’ve had at the Walt Disney World Resort, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. Today I’m sharing my experience from my recent trip in July (2021).

The Resort

Disney’s Riviera Resort is designed to capture the magic of Europe that Walt Disney fell in love with once upon a time. This Resort is incredible with beautiful gardens, bubbling fountains, and grand archways. It opened December 2019 and is actually a Disney Vacation Club Resort property, but you don’t have to be a DVC member to stay here. It’s conveniently located on the Skyliner line which we easily took from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort where we were staying for our breakfast at Topolino’s.

Checking In

Topolino’s Terrace is located on the 10th floor of Disney’s Riviera Resort. If you’re arriving via the Skyliner, take a right towards the elevators when you walk into the lobby. All dining locations are currently having you check in through the My Disney Experience App which you can do once you are close to your reservation time and near the dining location. I made this reservation for two people originally, but we were easily able to add a 3rd guest during the mobile check in. Once your table is ready, you will get a notification to your phone and can head straight to the cast members at the front where they will take you to your table.

Character Experience

While dining, Mickey, Minnie, Donald & Daisy will parade through the restaurant in their stylish outfits unique to Topolino’s Terrace. Each character will come around individually as well as a final celebration parade with all the characters together. This experience is on constant rotation so you will definitely see your favorite character a couple of times. The characters came through 3 times during our breakfast.

Currently, character dining is modified, so the characters won’t be visiting your table or signing autographs. However, at the end of your breakfast you will receive a fun postcard with the characters autographs to take home with you.

Dining Experience

The dining experience is a prix fixe menu where your breakfast begins with fresh pastries and bread and your choice of entrees which include quiche gruyere with house made pancetta, sour cream waffle, smoked salmon, two eggs any style and more.

I wanted to try a specialty cocktail so I ordered the Classic Bellini with prosecco and peach puree which did not disappoint!

Not long after we sat at our table,  our pastries arrived which had croissants, chocolate chip muffins and apple strudels. The pastries were served with honey butter, chocolate hazelnut mousse, and housemade strawberry jam

How Does it Work?

Now, I find that there is some mis-information about this restaurant as to what you can order. No, it’s not a buffet, however, you can order more than one entree. How this works is that you pick your main entree and order another entree as a side item (which is still a large portion) – this is all included with the price. It sort of reminded me of dining on a Disney Cruise.

For our entrees, we ordered a fruit plate for the table and I have to say that the quality of fruit on this plate was impeccable! We also wanted to try some of each of the entrees so we each ordered a couple of things to share. I picked the wood-fired butchers steak with polenta along with scrambled eggs, and roasted potatoes and sour cream waffles. My friends ordered the Quiche Gruyere, Smoked Salmon and Spiced Sausage Hash. The only thing we missed out on were the Mickey Waffle Dippers, which in the end our wonderful server surprised us with and let us know that you can order an adult sized portion if you want to, it’s just not on the menu

My final Thoughts

I personally think that this is the best breakfast on property – definitely beats any other character breakfast by leaps and bounds. The $42 cost per adult is worth the price in my books. I’d have to say that my favorite entree would be the wood-fired butchers steak with the sour cream waffles coming in at a close second. However, even the scrambled eggs and roasted potatoes were the best I’ve ever had so you really can’t go wrong with your entree selection. I definitely recommend adding Topolinos to you trip.

Reservations open up 60 days in advance from your check in date (if staying on property) or from the date you’d like to dine (if staying off property). I’ve linked my video on how to book dining reservations here which will give you some tips on how to score a popular reservation like this one.
